Farmyard construction

Look at what these Room 7 boys built on the last day of term 1....
Can the boys look more happy?

Pacifica Experience - Log Drums

Beating on the log drums made such an amazing noise. We all got to have a turn.

Pacifica Experience at Corban Estate - Making a Lei

We each had a string with a knot at one end

We threaded a flower petal, followed by a straw to space the flower petals out.

We helped each other look for specific colours
We each made our own pattern using colours

It took quite a lot of concentration

The teacher's and parent's made their own lei too
What great lei's!

Mrs Oats used bright yellow and red

Ben used black and blue

This Pacifica Mama is from Fiji

We sat and listened after we'd made our lei's

We shared the story about what our lei meant
William also shared his story

Even some of the Mum's got to share the story about the their lei

Pacifica Art Centre - Corban Estate

We had a fantastic time on our visit to the Pacifica Art Centre at Corban Estate in Henderson.

There were five Pacific Mamas each from a different Pacific Island, including Fiji, Tonga, Cook Islands, Samoa and Niue.

They taught us how Pacifica music, songs and movements convey stories and passed on lessons of cultural identity and Pacifica protocols. They each demonstrated their traditional greetings and then we tried it for ourselves.

The weather wasn't the best, but we had the best time anyway. The bus was a bit late picking us up, but we made the most of our time and played games while we waited.
We were taught a new song and dance

The boys did different actions to the girls

The parents and teachers learnt just as much as the kids

One of the Pacific Mama's taught us the song and dance moves

Construction

Look at what we made! We worked together to build this super structure

The Ant and the Grasshoppers Play

This is us enjoying ourselves reading the Ant and the Grasshoppers Play. We split into groups and each read a different part. The rest of the class sat and listened as we tried to read with expression.

Wacky Wednesday

Wacky Wednesday was in memory of Dr Seuss. He died when he was 87 and left us with some fantastic books to read.

We had such fun on Wacky Wednesday! Here are a few pictures below of some interesting looks.
